Like I said before, the Porsche Museum was actually just a pitstop on the way to the Black Forrest. Unfortunately we ended up leaving Stuttgart a bit late and didn't make it to our destination original. Instead we camped in a town I can't remember the name of, in a crappy campsite that was even less memorable.
The only thing I remember was that they didn't have wi-fi so we had to use their internet kiosk (which always suck!) to check our emails and catch up on some Australian news. We'd just loaded smh.com.au to see a massive headline saying Julia Gillard was the new PM of Australia. No why, no how... just the headline. Then all of a sudden their computer crashed which meant for the next 3 days we had no idea what the hell had happened to our (former) Prime Minister. WTF?!
The following morning we started heading towards the Black Forrest. We knew we had all day to get there so we decided to take it easy and make a couple of stops along the way.
Our first stop was a cute little village that was holding a weekend market. There were a couple of young girls playing harp duets which Alice really liked. There were also people selling home made things, new things, antiques etc. There was even a guy selling CDs and DVDs which I was happy about because it mean't I could finally by Rammstein's new album. I didn't get it before we left so I thought where better than to buy it in Germany ;)
After the markets we walked around the village for a bit. And it was such a nice day I even made time for a dip in their custom-paved river.
Our next stop was the famous Duravit building which houses the world's biggest toilet but it was a bit of a let down. I guess it just wasn't what we were expecting.
Our final stop was the famous Black Forrest. We got there in the afternoon which left us enough time to visit the Waterfalls, look at some Coo-coo clocks (and potentially buy one) and then end the afternoon with a bit to eat from a local cafe.
The waterfalls were cool but a little over priced. There were a few different trails we could take, each with differing degrees of difficulty and completion times. We chose the easiest one because we really wanted to fit in as much as we could while we were there. The trail we took was the yellow 'Squirrel Trail' which only took about 15 minutes to get to the top. Unfortunately we didn't actually see an squirrels (although we did see lots of half-eaten nuts on the ground) so Alice was most disappointed.
If you ever want to buy a coo-coo clock, this is the place to be. There are quite a few shops specialising purely in coo-coo clocks. We had a look at a few we liked but in the end, we decided we didn't 'love' any of them. They were very cool but it would have been impossible to travel with and they were also reasonably pricey so in the end we gave it a miss.
Our last (but most important) stop in the Black Forrest was the cafe. We'd read about one shop in particular who make their Black Forrest cake from the original recipe so that's where we headed. As it was the end of the day, when we got there there was only one piece of cake left. Lucky. We ordered some cappuccinos, ate some cafe and were very, very happy. All in all it was a good day in the Black Forrest.
After buying a few souvenirs we headed to our next campsite which was really close by. It was called 'Titisee' haha.
The place was beautiful. It was right on the edge of a massive lake and the whole campsite was surrounded by huge trees. There were people swimming in the lake, going out on rowboats and they even had a big paddle boat in the shape of a duck!
We had a nice stay in this campsite but it was a tad expensive. They charged us 5 Euros for internet that didn't work (yep, we've had lots of problems finding a decent internet connection which is why this blog is currently so far behind!!) and the camping gas they sold us was 11 Euros. It cost 3-4 Euros everywhere else. Not to worry. When you're only spending a little bit on accommodation each night, you don't mind having to fork out for things every now and then. After all, we are on holidays ;)

Alice just informed me that we were actually in the Black Forrest that whole day, not just at the end when we reached the waterfalls. Whoops!
