We spent our last day in Switzerland at Ballenburg, an open air museum. This museum was quite a bit different to the ones we'd been to previously. The museum displays traditional buildings from nearly every part of Switzerland. Each one was brought to Ballenburg from their original location and rebuilt on the 164 acre site. It was incredible.
The way they'd done the landscape to suit the building type was great. They split up the museum into about 12 different sections / regions, and in some of the buildings they had people actually making bread (if the building was an old bakery), selling medicines (if the building was an old pharmacy), turning wood, weaving, making pottery etc. Kind of like Ballarat in Victoria, I guess.
It might sound a bit lame but actually we really enjoyed our day there. Just be prepared to walk a hell of a long way if you go!
